Vitiligo’s Micro-needling treatment is considered as minimally invasive intervention. This is done especially in slow repigmenting patches, post transplantation and in improving colour and texture match in modified vitiligo. The microneedles usually consist of 36 to 42-miniature needles or nano needles. Micro-needling is done as OPD procedure. There are few options in this kind of treatment and it is one of the latest vitiligo treatment.
Growth Factor Enhanced Micro-needling (GEM)
Micro-needling is done under topical anesthasia. Advanced microneedles technique used alone or along with a concoction of growth factors and vitamins+ minerals either to achieve repigmentation by proliferation and migration of cells or colour and texture mismatch correction with collagen remodelling. This is done once a month for 4 to 6 times. This method is useful in slow repigmenting patches.
Skin Cell and Stem Cell Suspension Enhanced Micro-needling (SSTEM)
This is used along with 3-4 sessions of growth factor enhanced micro-needling. Usually done after 1 session of GEM. Here we use diluted cell suspension with stem cells, hair follicle cells and skin cells with patient’s plasma rich in nutrients in the microneedling procedure. This procedure is innovated by Dr. Holla with a specialised cell suspension preparation for cell stimulation and migration purpose.
Collagen Remodelling Microneedling with or with out radio frequency (CRM)
Here microneedling process is used varying intensity of radiofrequency. This process used in modified vitiligo post cell transplantation to reduce colour and texture mismatch. Minimal 6 sittings needed and done every month.
